I worked with People Energies as part of the Sainsbury’s Beer Competition in 2008 and 2009. The role of People Energies was to orchestrate the co-ordination and administration of a national beer competition for two years running. Specifically, this involved tight project management, liaison with a broad brewery supply base and creation of a corporately aligned website.
Playing the ‘middle-man’ between a broad brewery base with very limited large scale operational experience and a large multiple grocery retailer is a hard role to play and yet People Energies have been able to carry this out with aplomb. The organisational skills are exemplary and reliable and we had such confidence in their ability to deliver events that we worked with them this year as well as last.
The passion and product knowledge of People Energies is great and the links they have into the beer industry in particular have been priceless.

People Energies’ ability to bring the right people together at the right time for an event is important. They are able to cater for both the organisers and the invitees in a way that allows everyone to make a vital contribution.

Bath Ales would like to thank everyone at People Energies, but Sharon Reynolds in particular, for all their support to us during the 2009 Sainsbury’s Beer Competition. We have found them to be professional and efficient. At every stage of the process, people have been accessible, thorough and helpful. The lunch was a nice informal way to meet and chat with the other brewers.

Winner – 2009 Sainsbury’s Beer Competition
Before I received the winning award I had already remarked to several colleagues that the professionalism that People Energies brought to the competition was an example to all in the industry of great organisation and marketing skills that benefitted every competitor – winner or not.
Updates on progress, reminders of deadlines and advice on process was first class. It was obvious Sainsbury’s had great faith in People Energies and they were not disappointed.

Winner – 2009 Sainsbury’s Beer Competition
This was one of the best organised events that I, let alone Bocaddon Farm, have ever attended. The competition made you feel that you were valued by Tesco, no matter what your size. A great event, to which I look forward to competing again.
Andrew Scott, Bocaddon Farm
Ridgeway Brewing have been entering beer competitions organised by People Energies for more years than I like to think of. They've always been well organised, well promoted, transparently fair and easy to participate in. As "a regular" it's also been great to see the enthusiasm with which Richard gathers views and ideas for improvements from the participants and incorporates those ideas into future events. It makes you feel welcome....part of the fun ...rather than just an entrant in something anonymous.
Peter Scholey, Ridgeway Brewing
Entering the Sainsbury’s Beer competition was a good experience all round. They way the competition is run makes you like feel you are involved in the process. In some competitions you don’t know how you have fared until the winner is announced. With Sainsbury’s we were kept up to date with the latest developments and really felt part of it.

At Butlers Speciality Cheeses we would like to pay full tribute to People Energies for the professional manner in which the “whole” event was managed from start to finish, it certainly made our job easier we just had to make the cheese!
Neil Meredith, Butlers Cheeses
We are really glad we took part in the Tesco Cheese Challenge. The competition was easy to enter and the organising team liaised with us throughout with a lightness of touch that made us feel a valued part of the event at every stage. Clearly a lot of thought had gone into the details that really make a difference.

St Peter's Brewery's experience of working with People Energies as an entrant in the Sainsbury's 2008 Beer Competition was very positive. Information provided was easy to understand and any requests for additional help or advice were dealt with efficiently and enthusiastically. Comments regarding the 2008 competition and ideas for future years were encouraged and taken on board. All together a good outcome.
Colin Cordy, St Peters Brewery
I found the team at People Energies a delight to work with from start to finish. They were very professional and approachable, offering good advice and guidance throughout the competition.
Peter Salmon, Bays Brewery
As a very small and relatively 'young' Micro-Brewery we were delighted and yet somewhat in awe when we discovered our first trial bottling had successfully made it through to the final of Sainsbury's 2009 Beer Competition.
As the reality of an order for 40,000 bottles, its impact on our 'normal' production and the challenge of familiarising ourselves with the procedures of one of the UK's biggest Retailers dawned, we realised we would have to take advantage of help from whatever source we could.
One of the key links in that support chain was People Energies, where Richard and Sharon provided a reliable and knowledgeable resource to provide the answers to virtually all queries and/or to point us to the right.
Brian Muir, Allgates Brewery
I thought the way the beer awards are set up and judged is both innovative and effective, especially as the competition involves ordinary customers and drinkers instead of just experts. I am always aware of the beers taking part in Sainsbury’s stores. I enjoyed the awards ceremony – short, sweet and informative. It was clear that the brewers find this competition prestigious and that the smallest micros have as much chance to succeed as the bigger regionals. It is undoubtedly a great opportunity for the winners.
